Hey, if a blog user comment enhancement portfolio and cute polar bear cubs are what it takes to bring my lovely commenters back, then I shall use them mercilessly!

Blog User Comment Enhancement Portfolio - Oh dear. What is the world coming to. I beseech all who aspire to writing anything to read John Humphries "Lost for Words." In this slim volume is laid bare the hopeless state to which the English language has descended.
Contains many gems, including my favourite "Jargon puts the writer on a pedestal and the rest of us in our place."

I'm not an "awwww baby!" person either (we are a load of grumps here on Bright Meadow, aren't we?) but that polar bear... Yup, put me down for a baby one as well please :D

And woot - good to see that I have the power to make people utter noises involuntarily in public. Tee hee. *devil*

Neko - I can't believe you didn't Awwww! I shall have to try harder next week...

The polar bear was indeed cute. I too hate human babies Abi, but he made me grin. Didn't quite 'awwww' though, but he is awesomely cute!

I watched the previews today and am now embarrassed about my lack of self-control.

Boy, I don't mush up about babies, but if human beings could adopt polar bears (and they'd stay small) then I'd get one ASAP. Can't believe I said "Awwwwww" out loud in a cafe. Yeesh.

Neko, glad to see you back in the warm and dry land of the internet instead of the wilds of Dartmoor!

I don't get things sent to my mobile as the razr just couldn't cope (I have now decided I hate the bloody thing btw, after getting a replacement for the one I sat on), but I do send TOO twitter via sms. It's not too bad so long as you don't get carried away and spend a fortune on texts!

But yes, I'll agree that it should be about the conversation.

Much though I loathe constantly linking to the same people, Jemima Kiss does do a good round up of the three main ways of using twitter:

Think of Twitter messages in three ways: functional messages... discussion ... or, for the more poetically inclined, haiku-style notes about your day or observations on life.

The status update mode is cool and a justifiable use of the technology, but it does get a little lonely after a while.

And of course I miss my comments! Where has everyone gone? *sniff* (If y'all are pinning for brightmeadow.co.uk, worry not, I have a sneaky master plan that is starting to fall into place. Mwhahahahaaa!!!!!)

Mmm roasty goodness. I missed having these to look forward to every week, so if commenting will make you more likely to keep 'em coming, well I'm piping up!

The twitter thing is very interesting. I've just started using it... I'm not really having 'conversations' with it yet though, more using it like a status update... I'm wary (for some reason I can't put ,y finger on) of the mobile side of things, tweeting by text, though I suspect you would have had fun with all the 'OMG the weather stinks' tweets I would have posted last week!

Downing Street seems to be tweeting in the same way, saying what is happening as opposed to commenting on it or engaging with people. Narrative rather than interactive.

Maybe me and Number 10 are struggling with the same conceptual problem? Web 2.0 (yes I know you hate that phrase) as an exchange, rather than declarative?

Maybe that's why you are missing your comments? You often say the best thing about the Meadow is the talking we all do :)
